My Tribute Page
to Lena Zavaroni
Lena Zavaroni was a Child Star who found fame
at the age of 10 years old when she won a
populare National Televison Talent Show called
'Opportunity Knocks' in 1973. She won first place
5 weeks running with her big, confident rendition
of 'Ma, He's Making Eyes at Me!' This was released as a single and reached No. 10 on the National Chart. An album soon followed that peaked at No. 5, making her, to this very day, the youngest perfomer ever to have a Top 10 Album inthe National Charts.
She went on to host her own TV series for 4 seasons between the ages of 15 and 18, retiring from showbusiness in 1984 due to ill health. She had a history of Anorexia Nervosa, and later, bouts of depression. She died on 1st October, 1999, following an operation on her brain to relieve her depression.
The word 'Tragic' is too often used to describe Lena. I prefer the word 'Talented' and this is my page dedicated to her in the hope of keeping her memory alive and bringing her talent to the attention of a new generation.
Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you, Miss Lena Zavaroni! |
